Scholarships

The Credit Union has made a decision to recognize our junior members who successfully complete the 11+ exam. The eligibility criteria is very simple. In the first instance the child has to be in account with the Credit Union for at least two years. Secondly, there must be evidence of positive savings habits. Parents and guardians have an obligation to assist us at the Credit Union with encouraging the young members to develop good savings habits from early. Very often we talk about wealth creation to achieve this. The seed must be sown early. There can be no better place to start than with your Credit Union.

In 2014, the Common Entrance Award was re-branded as the Julie Alleyne Common Entrance Award in recognition of her role as the first Manager of this Credit Union.

Within the Credit Union we believe that the Youth is our future. We provide strong support to youth activities at various schools. In 2014 we rebranded the Educational Scholarship Programme as the Trevor Browne Educational Scholarship. Mr. Trevor Browne was a founding member and the first President of our Credit Union. He was also the first President of The Co-operators General Insurance Co Ltd and a past President of the Barbados Co-operative and Credit Union League Ltd. His contribution to the Credit Union movement is highly regarded. The scholarship which is named in his honour is intended to provide educational assistance to our members who are studying at the post-secondary school level. For more information, click on this link.
